Learn MoreAbout Playing Cards
A standard deck contains 52 cards across 4 suits (♠ Spades, ♥ Hearts, ♦ Diamonds, ♣ Clubs), each with 13 ranks (A, 2-10, J, Q, K).
Probability Concepts
- Single card: P(specific card) = 1/52 ≈ 1.92%
- Any rank: P(any Ace) = 4/52 ≈ 7.69%
- Any suit: P(any Spade) = 13/52 = 25%
- Face card: P(J, Q, or K) = 12/52 ≈ 23.08%
- Red card: P(Hearts or Diamonds) = 26/52 = 50%
Drawing Modes
Without replacement (default): Cards cannot be drawn twice until deck is reset. This simulates real card games where each card is unique.
With replacement: After drawing, the card is "returned" to the deck, allowing duplicates. This is useful for probability demonstrations where each draw is independent.
Card Notation
Cards are shown as rank + suit symbol:
- A♠ = Ace of Spades
- K♥ = King of Hearts
- 10♦ = Ten of Diamonds
- 7♣ = Seven of Clubs
